Bike Trails

Biking is one of the best ways to view the town of Culver as well as the Lake.  The 10-mile ride that loops the lake takes bikers under a canopy of maple trees. Or choose a longer route throughout the county.

Marshall County Barn Quilt Trail

After exploring all that Culver has to offer, venture out into other areas of Marshall County by exploring Indiana’s first Barn Quilt Trail.

Barn Quilts help tell stories and celebrate history Heirloom quilt patterns are painted on sheets of plywood ranging in size from 4-foot-by-4-foot to 8-foot-by-8-foot. No two Barn Quilt blocks are the same, just as traditional quilts vary in size, color and style. Many of the quilt patterns tell stories about family, history and culture.

Barn Quilts are a growing phenomenon The first Barn Quilt known was designed by Donna Sue Groves of Adams County, Ohio. Donna painted a quilt block and erected it on her barn as a way to honor her mother, who was an avid quilter. From this first Barn Quilt, the popularity spread through out Southern Ohio into West Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa and now Indiana. Download a map of the Barn Quilts of Marshall County.

Marshall County is best known for the many outdoor recreation activities available on Lake Maxinkuckee, the internationally renowned Culver Military Academy and the quiet nature of the Indiana countryside. Additionally, it is home to Mystic Hills Golf Club. Yet another Pete Dye design, this stunning 18-hole layout incorporates a links-style design on the front nine and a more traditional feel on the back nine. Prairie grasses guard the fairways as numerous sand bunkers protect each undulating green. The course offers golfers views of wetland areas, lush woods and rolling fairways. The Pro Shop is fully equipped with name-brand merchandise and a snack bar. For more information visit Mystic Hills online.
